Pakistan Railways Bridge/Culvert Replacement Program - Expression of Interest (EOI)

Project Description: Pakistan Railways intends to switch from cast in-situ Railway Bridges to Pre-cast/Pre-stressed construction suitable to meet the design load criteria of 28Tons Railway Loading for Heavy Mineral Broad Gauge (HMBG). The proposed replacement structures need to meet the Pakistan Railways bridge codes, AREMA, AASHTO and all other applicable codes.

The scope of work can be summarised as follows:

-  Design of easily transportable precast bridges and culverts

-  Development of techniques/methodology for the installation of the designed elements with minimal disturbance to rail operations/train movements

-  Cost estimation individual bridge unit

-  Construction supervision of casting and installation of bridges/culverts if required

Scope: Indus (formerly known as Deleg8)) was engaged by Italian contractor Rizanni De Eccher to Project Manage the response to an Expression of Interest called by Pakistan Railways for establishing a suitable team and development of construction methodology/design for speedy replacement of under capacity and damaged bridges.

Indus introduced international and local Australian consultants to Rizzani and formed an international consortium that developed a variety of solutions for the bridge replacement program.

Indus engineers developed the construction methodology and staging presentations and its submission team designed and coordinated the EOI submission. A variety of bridge concept design were developed for a range of spans between 6 - 60 m.
