Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway Upgrade

Client: Advisian

Project Value: A$ 2.0 Billion

Project Description: The Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway Upgrade project ("W2B Project") comprises of approximately 155 kilometres of highway achieving a four lane divided road extending north of Woolgoolga at the northern extent of Sapphire to Woolgoolga to South of Ballina at the southern extent of the Ballina bypass. The W2B Project includes grade separated interchanges, service roads and upgrades to local road connections

The Glenugie to Ballina project comprises approximately 90 bridges, mostly either super-T or planks structures, whose structural details have been standardised during the first stage of design development to maximise the benefits of a single approach across the project. The scope of works includes, but is not limited to supply, manufacture and delivery of bridge precast concrete components for the remaining sections of the Pacific Highway Upgrade between Glenugie and Ballina.

Scope: Indus (formerly known as Deleg8) was engaged by Rizzani de Eccher to manage the registration of expression of interest for the Woolgoolga to Ballina Precast Yard.

At the EOI stage Indus established a team consisting design, construction, planning and technical writing experts. A concept design was developed by Indus in Sydney and communicated to the structural designers in Italy for detailing. Two separate methodologies and programs were developed (i) using a composite steel/concrete structure and (ii) using traditional balanced cantilever methodology. Indus also developed the content for the client workshops and presented to RMS on behalf of RdE.
